In this creative and practical course, you’ll explore how sketchnoting — a powerful visual note-taking strategy — can help students process, retain, and connect ideas more deeply. Using the texts The Sketchnote Handbook and Ink and Ideas, you’ll learn how to make thinking visible, foster engagement, and support comprehension through simple drawings, symbols, and text. This course provides hands-on opportunities to practice sketchnoting yourself while designing lessons that bring this strategy into your K-12 classroom. By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped with tools to help students think more creatively, take meaningful notes, and express their understanding in dynamic new ways.

Student Testimonials:
I cannot wait to see what impact Sketchnoting may have on my future students! The two main hopes I have for Sketchnoting will be to increase engagement in lessons and to be able to communicate an increased understanding of new content. I also think it will be a fantastic way for students to have a different avenue to express their learning for formative and summative assessments, too. Their notes can be used alone or as a launching pad for our 1:1 conferencing to go even deeper. This strategy will be a wonderful addition for many students to use who may struggle with language retrieval, fine motor/letter formation, spelling, and overall attention. This is a super win! I’m already chomping at the bit for a new year to start and thinking that this will open worlds up to so many students and meet their diverse needs so much more! Thank you for such great content!!
