Inspiring Educators and Bringing Joy to Classrooms
Krista Geffre is more than just an instructor; she is a dedicated mentor and guide, a beacon of inspiration for educators seeking to enhance their teaching practices. Through her courses, she strives to empower teachers to make a real impact in their classrooms and communities. For Krista, continuing education is not just about earning credits—it's about sparking a lifelong passion for teaching and learning.
With a background in teaching K-5 grades in traditional classrooms and online for grades 6-8, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her role as a TINT instructor. As a certified K-12 teacher, including multiple subjects, ELA, SS, and ESOL, Krista not only understands the challenges and opportunities that today's educators face but also deeply empathizes with them.
Utilizing her love for learning, she finds inspiration in writing continuing education courses by reading books and researching topics impacting teachers today. Of the many classes she has taught through TINT, her favorites include an emphasis on critical thinking, restorative justice, and informed trauma, all of which are integral to her teaching philosophy.
"One of the subjects that has had the greatest impact on both the students and teachers that I teach is critical thinking," said Krista. "It has helped them – and me – improve listening skills, engage in conversations better, and gain perspectives."
In addition to critical thinking, Krista’s core competencies include: Online Education, Technology Focus, Inquiry-Based Learning, STEM / STEAM, Building Relationships, Communication, Differentiating Instruction (GT), Learning Management Systems (LMS), Computer Skills & Software Fluency, Curriculum Development (graduate/MS), Special Needs Students / IEPS / ESOL and Graduate Level Teaching.
Krista joined the TINT team after taking some courses. She wrote her first course in 2013 and since then has taught a wide range of courses. According to Krista, TINT continuing education courses stand out for their practicality and high quality. They delve into engaging topics, provide valuable teacher feedback, and go beyond mere assignment completion. TINT's approach fosters meaningful conversations, collaboration, and the generation of new ideas. Unlike software-based courses and traditional professional development, TINT offers a liberating choice in learning, allowing teachers to focus on what directly benefits their classrooms.
"We get a lot of feedback from educators who complete TINT courses that they enjoy getting new ideas and best practices so that they can make a stronger impact in their classrooms," said Krista.
Take for instance what these former TINT students said about learning from Krista:
“I always walk away from your classes a stronger teacher. Thank you!”
“All of your classes I have taken have been phenomenal. I consider myself to be an expert teacher, yet every time I take one of your courses it makes me reevaluate my teaching style and it gives me a whole new set of tools to improve my teaching.”
“Your courses are amazing. I love that I can read and respond at my own pace and that the questions are very oriented to reflect on what we need to reflect on. Thank you for your hard and clear work. You make my educational time enjoyable.”
